$0. The gift giver pays a convenience fee to Doce on top of the business’ original item price. The business covers a small credit card charge to Stripe (our payment processing platform) for each transaction. This is all handled for you through Stripe!
We transfer the final total to your business account via Stripe on the first day of each month. As a reminder, customers pay up front for the gifts they send out. You’ll also receive a confirmation email after a purchase has been made.
Stripe is one of the largest payment gateway for e-business, with over 1 million businesses, PCI 1 compliant; and set up makes Stripe remit the money directly. We are working on integrating it with your POS system.
No, your staff just needs to verify that the redeem page is legit by reviewing the order confirmation on the customer’s phone. We are working on building an app where you will be able to see your orders and account information.

Like any new marketplace, it is difficult to attract customers without many businesses and vice versa. However, as one of the first businesses on the app, you’ll get special attention from all new customers as we build our consumer base. It took 9 months for Airbnb to get their first 100 customers, and look at where they are now! Make a difference. Support a D.C.-based women-led start-up :)
Choose a business on the app, select a gift, write up a kind message, pay with Stripe... and the gift will be delivered to your friend's account instantly!
Visit the business you would like to redeem the gift from. While in the store, open the Doce app. Go to the redeem page. Click on the gift you would like to redeem and show the page to the cashier.
Let your favorite business know about Doce and send them to our website. From there, they can contact us.
Email us at doceapp.help@gmail.com and we will get back to you promptly.

This idea emerged from a genuine need for a meaningful way to show we care, even from afar. We first discussed this problem because Nensi couldn’t find a simple way to send Thais a birthday cupcake from the opposite coast without knowing her address or spoiling the surprise. Our friend groups have always had a culture of adapting digital tools for gifting, but sending money or gift cards felt transactional while local delivery posed logistical challenges. The problem we are trying to solve, confirmed by user interviews, is that people want a low-hassle, personalized way to send gifts. We’ve found they are willing to pay a service fee for removing scheduling issues and gaining insights into recipients’ gift preferences.
